Pray One for Another

“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers. Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God; our Father.” - 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 KJV

Prayer is the medium by which we communicate with our Heavenly Father. We should connect with our Father daily. We read in scripture that when Yeshua was on earth, He would get up early and set Himself apart to pray. He would separate from the crowd at times and have alone time with the Father. What is wonderful about prayer is that it is not a one way communication, but when we speak to our Heavenly Father, He also speaks to us. Yeshua is our perfect example and we should follow Him, as He daily communed with the Father.

There are so many things, issues in the world we can pray about. Today however, our scripture reference makes mention of the saints praying one for another. This is so important and it strengthens the Body of Christ. “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere” (Ephesians 6:18 NLT). “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16 NLT).

Though Yeshua was the Son of God, He had twelve disciples. He taught them the Word and trained them; knowing one day He would not be with them. He knew they would face persecution. In Luke 22:32 Yeshua said to Peter, ’But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren’. Even at that moment Yeshua demonstrated the need for us to pray one for another.

When we go to pray, let’s remember our brothers and sisters. Those who are working in the vineyard. Those who are in prison because of their faith. Those in the forefront and those who are working behind the scene. Let’s pray for each other that our faith fail not in these difficult times.

Let’s continue to pray for one another, remembering we are one Body in Christ.
