God also bound himself with an oath, so that those He promised to help would be perfectly sure and never need to wonder whether He might change His plans. Hebrews 6:17 NLT

Abraham was old in age and without children. God had promised and also made an oath that He would make Abraham the father of a great nation of people. He would give Abraham a son. When someone makes a promise we know it can be broken but when an oath is attached to it, we know that it seals the promise. The promise should be kept because of the oath. When a man takes an oath, he is calling upon someone greater than himself to force him to do what he has promised or to punish him if he later refuses to do it; the oath ends all argument about it. Now, I’m not asking anyone to make an oath, the bible says your yes should be yes and your no, a no.
When God made the oath it was to let Abraham know that He God meant what He said. For instance, there was God’s promise to Abraham: God took an oath in His own name, since there was no one greater to swear by, that He would bless Abraham again and again, and give him a son and make him the father of a great nation of people. Then Abraham waited patiently until finally God gave him a, Isaac, just as he had promised. Hebrews 6:13-15 NLT
At times, God gives us a promise that more than usual seems impossible. We get excited at first, then things son may start to go contrary to what was promised. It may take years before it is fulfilled. Our faith even waiver and we wrestle with doubt. Abraham however, believed God and it was counted unto him as righteousness - Genesis 15:6. We may forget about it but God will never forget.
When God bound Himself with an oath, it was so that those He promised to help would be perfectly sure and never need to wonder whether He might change his plans. God is saying to us today, we can take Him at His word. We can trust that when He says He will do something, He will do it. So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary – Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT.
Amen!!! Hallelujah!!!
