Temple Maintenance

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19

Health Tip: Choose Direction Over Impulse.

When Jesus said, “follow me,” He was inviting intentional movement—not drifting, not reacting, but choosing a path. That idea applies powerfully to physical health too. Instead of relying on mood or convenience (like grabbing whatever food is closest or skipping rest), decide in advance to follow habits that lead to well-being:

When the Bible speaks of following, it isn’t just about direction—it’s about transformation. Adonai didn’t call His disciples to stay as they were; He invited them into a process of becoming. That same call applies to how we care for the “temple” we’ve been entrusted with—our hearts, minds, and lives.

Maintenance begins with surrender.

Just as the disciples dropped their nets, temple care starts by laying down what clutters and distracts. What habits, thoughts, or priorities are filling the space that belongs to God?

Maintenance requires daily attention.

Temples in ancient times were continually cleaned, repaired, and honored. In the same way, spiritual maintenance isn’t a one-time event—it’s prayer, reflection, repentance, and renewal, practiced consistently.

Maintenance leads to purpose.

Adonai didn’t just say “follow me”—He added, “I will make you.” As we care for what God has given us, He shapes us into people who reflect Him and serve others. A maintained temple becomes a place where life and hope flow outward.

Recipe of the Month: “Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed.” - Proverbs 9:5

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of wisdom/discernment
    1 cup of readiness/provision
    ½ cup humility/teachability
    1 tablespoon invitation/hospitality
    ½ cup trust/surrender
    Flavor: gratitude/joy

Preparation: A Life Fed by Wisdom

Begin with 1 cup of wisdom — seek understanding daily, allowing God’s truth to guide your choices and direction (Proverbs 9:5). Add 1 cup of readiness and provision — prepare your life with intention, just as a table is set before guests, being diligent and responsible with what you’ve been given.

Mix in ½ cup of humility and teachability — remain open to correction and growth, knowing that wisdom is received, not forced.

Pour in 1 tablespoon of invitation and hospitality — create space for others, offering kindness, encouragement, and a welcoming spirit.

Include ½ cup of trust and surrender — rely on God’s guidance rather than your own understanding, walking in faith (Proverbs 3:5–6).

Finish with flavor and joy — let gratitude and love shape your attitude, bringing fullness to all you do (Corinthians 16:14).

Result: A life nourished by Wisdom, prepared with intention, and shared with others—steady, open, and filled with purpose.
