Scripture of the Day
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 NLT

Today's Devotional
We are living in a world today where people do things to please people or to put it another way, get approval of others. Some people do things to get awarded, to see what benefit they can get, or as we would say, to see what is in it for them., to get recognition and the praise of man This is very dangerous. Being a people pleaser or seeking the approval of others or to receive a reward can be detrimental.
The truth is sometimes no matter how much you do or go above and beyond or go the extra mile, there are those persons who would still think that what you did was still not enough, at least not for them. First and foremost, whenever we need to or have to do something, we must have the right motive. Whenever we decide to do something, we must do it with a genuine heart, knowing that what we are doing is not to please man, and especially as disciples of Yeshua, it is to please Him and bring glory to His name.
One of the reasons why it is important to make sure that whatever you do is unto the Lord and not people, is that some people may not appreciate or be grateful for what you did, even though it was to help them. Then there are those who would betray you even after all that you did for them. We should not be surprised when we experience this, because even Yeshua experienced ungratefulness and betrayal. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, healed the lame, opened blind eyes and raised the dead, yet the people said, ‘Crucify Him’. Did Yeshua become bitter? No! Even on the cross, He said, ‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.’ Luke 23:34 KJV.
Yeshua knew why He came to earth. It was to do His Father’s business. Luke 2:49. Yeshua never concerned Himself with what the people thought. He just did what the Father told Him to. He knew His reward was with the Father. Yeshua never sought to please man; what He did was to please the Father.
The scripture continues with, 'Remember (keep this in mind), the Lord, (not man), will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ (not man)'. I encourage you to keep this in mind as you go about working or doing good, whether it’s on your job, at church or wherever it may be. Always work to please the Lord and not man.
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free – Ephesians 6:5-8 KJV. I can testify of this. On my job, when I work, I do so with the mindset to please the Lord and not my bosses. I always say to my colleagues, my allegiance, my accountability is first to God. Therefore, when I do my work, I do so to first please the Lord, even when I am not treated fairly. I have seen the Lord work on my behalf. The Lord has favored and promoted me, where men would have rejected me.
Whatever you do, do it willingly as unto the Lord!
