“My soul, wait in stillness, only for God—from Him comes my salvation” - Psalm 62:1

David, described in Scripture as a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22), faced relentless trials, dangers, and enemies who sought his life. Yet his unwavering confidence was in the Lord his Rock, his Fortress, and his Deliverer. As he declared: “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust.” (Psalm 18:2).
Throughout the psalms, David proclaims that God alone is the source of all he needs. God alone is worthy of complete trust, devotion, and worship. He is our salvation, our strength, our Shepherd, our King, and our life. As written: “He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” (Psalm 62:2)
Like David, we are called to place our undivided confidence in the Lord. He alone is the sure foundation of our hope, the fountain of grace, and the source from which living water flows (John 7:38). No other can sustain, provide, or save as He does.
Even in the midst of overwhelming hardship, David chose stillness and trust rather than fear. He understood that true strength is found not in striving, but in quiet confidence before God:
“Truly my soul waiteth upon God:
From Him cometh my salvation.” (Psalm 62:1)
This Psalm, associated with Jeduthun, one of the chief musicians appointed in Israel (1 Chronicles 16:41–42), reflects a heart at rest in God despite outward turmoil.
May we also learn to wait in silence before the Lord, trusting wholly in Him. For from Him alone comes our salvation, our peace, and our strength.
