Get Alone With God and Pray

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 KJV

As a follower of Yeshua, prayer is an essential part our lives. It is likened to air that we need to survive. There are many questions about prayer. However, there is one thing that we can be sure of about prayer is that God hears our prayers.

Prayer is the way by which we connect with our heavenly Father. Not only is He our heavenly Father, but He is, Abba, our Father. He is a relational God and we are his children. Our Abba is full of compassion, He knows us, He remembers us and His love for us is from everlasting to everlasting.

Yeshua by example demonstrated to us the importance of prayer. Scripture tells us that Yeshua went to the mountain to pray. He withdrew from the crowd. It was vital that Yeshua separated Himself from all that was taking place and spend alone time with God. The word says, that Yeshua continued all night in prayer. He did not rush the time He spent with the Father. This was His lifeline in order to fulfil the mandate He was given. The Father spoke to Yeshua and gave Him instructions. See, prayer is not only talking to God, it is also hearing what He has to say to us. It is a two-way communication channel.

One may wonder, ‘all night in prayer’, but that’s a very long time. There were some important decisions Yeshua had to make and He needed the Fathers counsel. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles vs.13 KJV. Now this was a crucial part of Yeshua’s ministry. He had to chose right. He did not just make a decision. He consulted with the Father in prayer prior to selecting the twelve disciples. If Yeshua did this, how much more are we to seek His face before we make a decision. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths – Proverbs 5:3-6 KJV.

God wants us to pray. He wants us to connect with Him. He is our heavenly Father – Abba and He is waiting to hear from us and to speak to us!
