Faith Over Fear

“For You have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in Your presence, O God, in Your life-giving Light.” - Psalm 56:13

Fear can be overwhelming. David feared for his life. “They come together to spy, watching my every step, eager to kill me (v. 6). He discovered that the answer to fear is trust in God (Psalm 56:3,4, 11).

David had been seized by the Philistines in Gath. It must have been a terrible experience. He was ‘kicked around’, stomped on every day’ and beaten up (Psalm 56:1). Yet in the midst of it all, he trusted in God: ‘When I get really afraid, I come to you in trust. I’m proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God’ (Psalm 56:3–4).

There are times in life when we come under attack. It could be a spiritual attack or attack from other people. Whatever the cause of the fear, like David, put your trust in God: ‘In God I have put my trust and confident reliance; I will not be afraid’ (Psalm 56:11a).

This psalm ends on a note of triumph and deliverance Jesus have delivered me’, Psalm 56:13- for You have rescued me from death; You have kept me....I am walking in Your presence, O God...in Your life - giving light.

David thanks God for setting him free: ‘God, you did everything you promised, and I’m thanking you with all my heart. You pulled me from the brink of death, my feet from the cliff edge of doom. Now I stroll at leisure with God in the sunlit fields of life’.

Psalm 27:1

The Lord IS our Light and Salvation. He is our Light, our happiness, and our morning/day star. He is our Salvation, our Safety, and our Deliverer.

Psalm 56:13.

May we maintain the life-giving light (our happiness, victory, prosperity, and deliverance) and have Faith over fear. Standing boldly on God's promises; the One and Only Mighty and Powerful in battles, our Deliverer.

Despite all fear and overwhelming circumstances, Victory is ours through Christ who love us (Romans 8:37).
