And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves [that is, separate yourselves for a special holy purpose], for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you. (Joshua 3:5)

Joshua and the Israelites were about to cross over the Jordan river; on their way to the promise land. God was going to perform another wonder in the sight of His people.
God is a holy God and we as His people are to also be holy. 1 Peter 1:15-16 ‘But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy’. He told the children of Israel, sanctify yourselves. As children of God, we are to live our lives pleasing and acceptable unto God. We cannot be entangled with the things of this world that does not please God. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage - Galatians 5:1.
When we give our lives to God, we are no longer our own. God has standards by which He expects us to live. He has given us clear instructions in His word on how we are to conduct our lives, as His people. When people look at us or the way we live, they must see a difference. Our life must be a reflection of our Lord.
God was about to perform a wonder for the children of Israel and it was required of the people to set themselves apart for a holy purpose, for His purpose. God was about to demonstrate His power. In order for people to see and know of the God we serve, His power and what He can do, God requires us to be pure and holy. He desires to do wonders among us. He wants to perform miracles in our lives, but we must first be surrendered to Him and be set apart unto Him.
Prayer: Lord, I bring myself before you. I ask that you wash and cleanse me from my sins. Help me to be set apart unto you; so that you can use me for your honor and glory. By this, others will come to know you because of the wonders you will perform in my life.
