God Is Love

“But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love”-1 John 4:8 NLT.

John says: “God is Love “ not “love is God”. Our world, with its shallow and selfish view of love, has turned these words around and weakened our understanding of Love. The world thinks that Love is whatever makes a person feel good, so they feel they have the right to sacrifice moral principles and other rights in order to obtain such “Love”. But that is the opposite of real Love, it is selfishness. If we truly know God, His sacrificial Love will be evidence in how we treat others. God will express His love to us forever.

What a beautiful truth it is to know that God is Love—and that the love we are called to live out flows directly from Him. Scripture never says that love is God; rather, it reveals that Love is an essential attribute of His holy nature. Divine Love does not originate in human emotion, culture, or affection—it comes from God alone.

This Love was made visible when God gave His Son for us. “God so loved the world that He gave…” Love, then, is not merely a feeling but a self-giving action. Those who have been born of God are called to reflect this same Love through their lives.

Human love can be sincere, but divine Love is supernatural. It is the fruit of the Spirit, produced in a regenerate heart, and expressed through obedience, sacrifice, and Truth. Since God has loved us in this way, we are morally called to love one another…seeking what is best for others, for the Glory of God, and in the light of eternity.

“Not that we loved Him, but that He loved us (1 John 4:10)”. May His Love flow through us today.
