Glory Belongs to ADONAI Alone

“I am ADONAI; that is My Name! I will not give My Glory to another, or My praise to graven images.” - Isaiah 42:8 TLV

ADONAI declares His uniqueness and sovereignty in Isaiah 42:8. His Glory belongs to Him alone because He alone is the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer of all things. In a world filled with distractions and idols that compete for our attention, ADONAI reminds us that no person, possession, achievement, or image deserves the worship that belongs exclusively to Him.

Throughout Scripture, ADONAI consistently reveals His Glory and guards it from being given to another. Exodus 20:3-4 commands His people to have no other gods before Him and to avoid idols. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 calls us to love ADONAI with all our heart, soul, and strength. Psalm 115:1 declares, “Not to us, ADONAI, not to us, but to Your Name give Glory.” Likewise, 1 Chronicles 16:29 urges believers to give ADONAI the Glory due His Name and worship Him in holiness.

Pride often tempts us to take credit for what ADONAI has done in our lives. Yet Scripture teaches that every good gift comes from Him (James 1:17). Even our abilities and successes are opportunities to reflect His Goodness rather than promote ourselves. When we acknowledge ADONAI as the source of every blessing, we place Him in His rightful position as the center of our lives.

Today, examine your heart. Is there anything receiving the devotion, trust, or praise that belongs to ADONAI alone? Whether it is success, possessions, relationships, or personal ambitions, surrender it to Him. As we honor ADONAI above all else, our lives become a testimony to His greatness, and His Glory shines through us for others to see.
