“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name, He may give it to you.” - John 15:16 NIV

Judas, though chosen years earlier as one of Yeshua’s twelve disciples, heard the truth of the gospel yet failed to unite it with faith. He had already departed to betray his Master. In contrast, the remaining eleven had also been called long before, but they received the same gospel with faith. These men were true disciples when Yeshua declared: “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name He may give you.”
They were chosen and appointed to bear lasting fruit, becoming witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. As the foundation of the Church, they were entrusted with continuing His work after His departure. The apostles and prophets laid the doctrines of the Church age as recorded in Scripture, but all who are born again by Grace through faith share the same calling: to abide in Christ and advance the gospel wherever He has placed us.
Proverbs teaches: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” Paul describes the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5, and in Ephesians reminds us: “The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and Truth.” We are called to go and bear fruit, fruit that endures.
Therefore, may we abide in Yeshua daily, drawing on His strength to bear much fruit to the Glory of God. Living in Spirit and Truth, our lives will not only bring praise to Him but will also be guided by the Holy Spirit to pray according to His will and character.
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 7:6)
Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways (Proverbs 3:31).But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
