You are My Witnesses, says GOD!

But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord. You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other GOD— there never has been, and there never will be. Isaiah 43:10 NLT

God had chosen the Israelites to be His witnesses to the world. God had called them to be His very own. They would be His people, and He would be their GOD.

It all began when GOD called Abraham to leave his family and country and to follow Him. GOD made a covenant with Abraham and said, ‘And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a GOD unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.’ And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their GOD. Genesis 17:7-8 NLT.

GOD’s plan from the beginning was to have a people who would know Him, believe in Him and to serve only Him, the true and living GOD. He would do miracles, signs and wonders among them and both the Israelites and the world around them would know and understand that their GOD alone is the only true GOD. They were to be set apart from the other people and follow Him wholeheartedly, obeying His commands.

The Israelites were to be a witness to the world that the GOD they serve is the only true and living GOD. They had been chosen. Today, because of Yeshua and the sacrifice that He made, all believers are to be GOD’s witnesses to the world. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of GOD: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV

Because we have been chosen, because we are GOD’s very own possession, let’s show others the goodness of GOD. Our lives should be a testimony of the goodness of GOD. Let us be that witness telling the world who GOD is and what HE has done. Let us be that witness to the world that they do not have to remain in darkness, but that they too are being called into His wonderful light. We must be witnesses to the world that GOD alone is GOD, that there is no other GOD— there never has been, and there never will be.
