What You Sow, You Also Reap!

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7 KJV

When you look at farming, the farmer plants seeds and whatever seed is sown that is what the farmer will reap. If he sows tomato seeds, he will reap tomatoes. If he sows pepper seeds, he will reap peppers. A farmer cannot sow vegetable seeds and expect to reap fruits. Whatever we sow, that is what we will reap, We also know that one seed becomes a tree and bears many of it’s own kind.

So it is with the flesh and the spirit. Scripture tells us that if we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption, and if we sow to the spirit we will reap everlasting life. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting, Galatians 6:8 KJV. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature (the flesh) will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit – Galatians 6:8 NLT.

Let’s look at some of the things that when sown to the flesh causes decay and eventually death. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature (flesh), the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Not only will they not inherit the Kingdom of God, but they will receive the payment for sowing to the flesh and that is death. For the wages of sin is death, Romans 3:23a KJV.

However, if we sow to the Spirit, we will reap everlasting life from the Spirit. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh, Galatians 5:16 KJV. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves – NLT. When you sow to the Spirit, you will reap fruit. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 NLT.

We must choose whether to sow to the flesh or to sow to the spirit. Those who belong to Yeshua have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:24-25 NLT
