The Torah...The Covenant

“But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days'—it is a declaration of Adonai. 'I will put My Torah within them. Yes, I will write it on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be My people” - Jeremiah 31:33 (TLV).

Through Messiah's one offering, God has accomplished what no human effort could ever achieve. Hebrews declares that we have been "made perfect forever" (Hebrews 10:14 TLV)"For by one offering He has made perfect forever those being made holy.") —not because we have reached flawless performance, but because Messiah's sacrifice is complete and sufficient. From that secure standing, God continues the work of making us holy day by day.

Jeremiah reveals what this looks like under the New Covenant. God does not merely give His people commandments written on stone; He writes His Torah upon their hearts. Obedience becomes the fruit of a transformed relationship rather than the means of earning acceptance.

Being made perfect forever and having God's Torah written within us are not opposing truths—they belong together. The finished work of Messiah gives us confidence before God, and the indwelling work of the Spirit shapes our hearts to delight in God's ways. We obey not to become His people, but because He has already claimed us as His own.

Today, rest in the finished work of Messiah while remaining open to the ongoing work of God within you. The covenant is both a promise of acceptance and a promise of transformation.3
