And God Acted...

Then the Egyptians—all of Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and charioteers—chased them into the middle of the sea. But just before dawn the Lord looked down on the Egyptian army from the pillar of fire and cloud, and He threw their forces into total confusion. He twisted their chariot wheels, making their chariots difficult to drive. “Let’s get out of here—away from these Israelites!” the Egyptians shouted. “The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!” Exodus 14:23-25 NLT

In yesterday’s devotion, we saw that God heard the groaning of the Israelites, and He remembered His covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. We concluded that God hears, remembers, sees and knows the right time to act. Today we will look at the time that God acted on behalf of the Israelites.

This is how God acted on behalf of the Israelites. First God chose Moses as the deliverer of His people. God told Moses to go to Pharoah and tell him that the I AM said to let His people go. God began to judge the Egyptians by bringing many plagues upon Egypt and after the demise of the firstborn Egyptians, Pharoah decided to let the Israelites go. And if that was not enough, when the Israelites left Egypt, Pharaoh decided that he along with his army would recapture the Israelites. Little did Pharaoh know that God was about to do the final act, have the final show down on behalf of His people and close the curtains to that chapter of their lives.

God looked down once again and He acted on behalf of His people. “The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!”.

Then God did the final act on the Egyptians. When all the Israelites had reached the other side, the Lord said to Moses, “Raise your hand over the sea again. Then the waters will rush back and cover the Egyptians and their chariots and charioteers.” So as the sun began to rise, Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the water rushed back into its usual place. The Egyptians tried to escape, but the Lord swept them into the sea. Then the waters returned and covered all the chariots and charioteers—the entire army of Pharaoh. Of all the Egyptians who had chased the Israelites into the sea, not a single one survived. Exodus 14:26-28 NLT

Who can stand against the Lord? No one can! And God acted!
